My dog ate a plastic bag

My dog ate a plastic bag full of my books yesterday so I need to buy replacements now!”

But for those who have been there, done that and the bag has not fallen into the bin, but been eaten by a dog, a cat or a toddler, well, the question then arises as to how you can ensure your bags can make it to your destination?

When I worked in France with the French Environment Ministry, we went through the same issue with people who bought cheap, nasty plastic bags to use as dog kennels. But they just didn’t seem to work so we had to come up with a way to make it work in their busy French lives.

So, my advice, and I know that I can’t say this too often: Buy good quality bags, either the bags you will take with you to your destination or some small bags you can stash away.

I also have had very good experience of buying in some well-known high street retlers in the UK who will have great stock and are happy to hold your delivery in reserve for you so you can have it in the post the next day.

And if you do need to buy them yourself, make sure they have some way of attaching the zip so you don’t have to worry about the bag falling open as you are trying to attach them.

Also remember: If you do need to pack your bag, it is really important to take the handles out, as you don’t want them to get dirty or torn off!

Finally, a book bag full of plastic bags looks pretty silly on the trn and in the pub. In fact, it looks pretty silly in a lot of public places.

I hope this information helps and avoids any unnecessary plastic bags falling into the wrong hands, thanks for reading.

Happy travels!

Family road trip for seven in the South Island of New Zealand. This road trip was the first for our 16-year-old. It’s also the first time I’ve driven anywhere with 4 kiddos in the back. The road trip was amazing! I’d recommend it for any family road trip. Click here to read more.
